Holidays in Malta (2)

Here are the best  beaches around Malta

Thousands of tourists from around the world are attracted by the exciting coastal scenery – beautiful sandy and rocky beaches of Malta, impressive Dingli cliffs and mysterious cave colorful undersea gardens, breathtaking clean clear sea, good hotel service and interesting local color. It is an exciting place for diving, water sports, golf, hiking, horseback riding and untied entertainment. Here are the list of most beautiful beaches around Malta 🙂

Ghajn Tuffieha – long sandy beach. For me the one of the best beach in Malta, with shallow clear water. Is not so famous beach, i got a hidden tip from the bus driver on the way to Golden bay. Surrounded by National Park. Besides swimming, there is the option to climb to the adjacent cliff, from which the views of the bays or a romantic sunset.

Paradise Bay – beautiful clear water, from which there is a view to nearest islands of Comino and Gozo. Given the relatively small size of the beach, it is appropriate to come here early in the morning to find a good place. There is also also a great restaurant, you can by there ice cream, foodie, rent an umbrella and chairs, you can rent them  around 16 EUR together. But definitely worth it, the water is just amazing overe there.

Golden Bay, sandy beach in Malta– one of the most popular beaches, wide, sandy beaches attacting a lots of tourists, so yes it is a quite crowded  during high season. Afternoon are coming the local young people, they listening music, having fun. A bit noisy as well in the afternoon. But there you can also rent an umbrella, chairs, there is a restaurant, caffe, public toilet (not very nice, but anyway). To rent an umbrella with 2 chairs will cost you here 12 EUR.

Mellieha Bay beaches – the longest sandy beach in Malta, a very gentle descent to the sea, also popular among families with children. Part of the beach with umbrellas and deck chairs reminded me of crowded beaches in Bibione / Italy , but there are also less crowded place if you look for them. The most beautiful and largest sandy beach on the island with gradual entry into the sea, which will certainly appreciate all holiday lovers. Mellieha is considered to be one of the most charming resort of Malta, the old part – it is a tangle of narrow, winding streets with shops, local stylish restaurant with stone terraces and squares that make up the atmosphere of the city – a cheerful, noisy, yet magical at sunset. The heart of the old town is the Church of Lady Victoria built in the Baroque style of reddish limestone and its chapel with unique frescoes. Terraces, which are part of the square outside the church, offering spectacular panoramic views of the Bay of Mellieha and the surrounding area.

Pretty Bay – an extensive sandy beach in the south of Malta. As the road to the beach of the tourist sites takes more than long, I doubt that a normal tourist finds time to visit this beach. Originally it was a rocky coast, which was filled with sand from the seabed during extensive work to build a container terminal. Contrastly operates view from the beach with crystal clear fresh water, which is compared to the above-mentioned so-called. Port.

Gnejna Bay – as well as Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Bay is located in the northwest of the island. Since traffic here is for tourists rather complicated his plase still beloved with the domestic people. Just between Gnejna Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha on the tip, you can enjoy nude sunbathing / though at your own risk because it is illegal in Malta – My guess is that due to the strong religion . But anyway its a nice place.

Anchor BayPopeye Village – one of the places I enjoyed my day very much with a smile on my lips all day long. Unique fishing village Sweet haven is a collection of dilapidated wooden houses and shops built on the cliffs at Anchor Bay. To the construction were used thousands of boards, 8 tons of nails and 9000 liters of color in order to swivel the musical comedy by Robert Altman 1980 – Popeye – known as Popeye, the sailor who is  loving the spinach. In the  “village” there is a family atmosphere that pulls everyone. Adults may be part of the filming of short stories. Everybody can enjoy and jump in the  water trampoline, relax on the sun terrace on a sun lounger, or play miniature golf. Every day is full of activities involving the visitors. On the back side of the village there is a swimming pool, and children’s water playground. The price is 15.50 EUR ( July 2016) includes also boat rides around the neighborhood , if the weather is not good, and is windy there is no boat ride, but we got a free picture of us in Popeye village and one post card. I was happy we went there at the end of the day. By the way, it can be easily a whole day trip.

Comino – Blue Lagoon – the beaches, I would call it land overflowing with sun loungers. This is a wonderful place, with beautiful water and reefs that you must visit. From personal experience, I recommend Triton boat, which departs from the city of Bugibba. On the way to the Blue Lagoon there is around  hour and stop at Crystal lagoon with crystal clear water where you can call the shots from a ship or a reef, and for the brave there is a possibility to snorkeling in a cave 007. This is followed by a few hours stop at the Blue Lagoon.

Blue Grotto – it’s not just a rocky cliff, the system of sea caves with fresh water so that I had the whole boat rides wondered what if I’ve ever seen water so beautiful. Definitely worth it to take a diving mask, snorkel and swim around.
